Everything here lives under **Profile → My information**.

## Export your data

Under **Privacy preferences**, **Export my data** produces an archive of the
personal data held about you, in machine-readable form, together with a
disclosure statement listing who the data has been shared with and how long each
category is kept.

Building it takes a little while, and the app notifies you when it is ready. The
download link is then valid for 48 hours, after which the archive is deleted.
That is deliberate, because the file contains everything about you in one place.
Store it somewhere safe and delete it when you are done. You can request a new
export once a day.

## Release a device

Releasing unbinds a vploq from your account so somebody else can activate it. Do
this before selling or giving one away.

It disowns the device on our servers and cuts its access immediately, but does
not erase it. Release it here first, then press its physical reset button to
wipe it. Until the next owner activates it under their own account, it works for
nobody, and nobody else can claim it. The full steps are on

## Delete your account

**Profile → My information → Delete account.** Because it is destructive, it
takes a five-second press-and-hold and then a confirmation.

What happens:

- Your account is scheduled for deletion and you are signed out everywhere.
- Devices you own are released, so they can be set up again by their next owner.
- After a 30-day grace period the data is erased for good.

Two things worth knowing before you press it.

You cannot delete an account that owns a team with other people in it. The app
sends you to Teams to *transfer or disband* the teams you own first. See
[teams](/teams/managing-teams#ownership).

Signing in again during the grace period cancels the deletion. The grace period
exists precisely so an accidental deletion can be reversed. Once it passes, the
deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

## What is kept, and for how long

The [privacy policy](/privacy) is the authoritative answer, with a table of
every category and its retention period, including the 30-day account-deletion
grace and the 48-hour life of an export archive described above.
